Evaluation - Question 3

Question 5 Information - Abbey.

Similarities to other films - I could say that our opening scene is related to Wanted starring Angelina Jolie as she was found to be quite a villainous character in this particular film and this is similar to our film with the fact of the person who drugs the detective is shown as female. As well as this Angelina Jolie in this film is seen to be mysterious just like the woman in our opening scene as you don't see her features of know anything of her she would then lead the audience to think she's a mysterious character  this is also good for our target audience as for men it might be interesting to see a woman being mysterious and showing some authority as well as being something for them too look at (male gaze) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeAbDtoolLk
Also I could say that our film has similarities to Unknown starring Liam Neeson as he awakens from a coma not knowing what has happened to him and finding out new things about his life before such accident happened this is similar to our opening scene as when our detective gets drugged he wakes up in an unknown place covered in blood not knowing what has happened to him or what he could have possibly done to be covered in blood that is not his, also as it stops at this point it leaves you to wonder what he may have to face in order to find out what happened similar to Unknown as he has to find out how such events occurred. This is also in link with out target audience as men like to have mystery and the blood side of things could interest them as their is obvious signs of action and stereo-typically men do like to watch things with engaging scenes of violence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-lDfKb2SBA
Adult world - the way that we have put our main character in a suit shows the audience that he is part of the adult world, this would relate to it being a thriller for a male older group as they can relate to the character. This fits into the target audience of a male as you find most working and respectable men dressed in suits ready for business. This also relates to our certificated age as younger audiences aren't as interested in those who are older and in smart attire as they might be more interested in characters they can relate to by what they're wearing and not many young people wear suits.
Props - how the main character is covered in blood in the end shots lets the viewer know that this is more of an older age film, the blood contributes to it being mysterious and something of a violent nature. This ties into the audience being male as they enjoy the films with more action and violence as this would keep them hooked. it also ties to our certificate of an 18 as it shows blood and scenes that younger viewers may find upsetting.
